Setlists and iCloud
My setlists have not appeared on my other device
Sync uses your own iCloud account, so all of the following have to be true:
- Both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account.
- iCloud Drive is turned on in Settings for that account.
- Both devices have been online at least once since the change. Edits made offline are kept and sent when the device next has a connection.
Sync is not instant. iCloud decides when to deliver changes, and a minute or two is normal. Opening the app on the second device tends to prompt it along.
Sharing a setlist with someone else
Any setlist can be exported as a .metroset file and sent by Mail, Messages, AirDrop or anything else that moves a file. Opening one on a device with the app installed offers to import it. This works between people — the other person does not need to share your iCloud account, only the app.
Can I use the app without iCloud?
Yes, entirely. Everything works offline and on-device. iCloud only carries setlists between your own devices; with it switched off, the app simply keeps them locally.
Sound and timing
I cannot hear the click
- Check the Click switch and the volume slider in Settings.
- On iPhone and iPad, check the device is not in Silent mode and that the system volume is up.
- If audio is going to headphones or a Bluetooth speaker, check that it is actually connected to this device and not another one nearby.
What does "Mix with other audio" do?
On, the click plays on top of whatever else is playing — a backing track, a recording, a video. Off, the app takes over audio and you get lock screen and headphone controls instead. It is a real trade-off, which is why it is a switch and not a decision made for you.
Does the beat drift over a long session?
It should not. Beats are scheduled from the audio hardware's own clock rather than from a software timer, so there is no accumulating error. If you ever see drift against a click track or a DAW, please write in — that is a bug worth knowing about.
Beats and the bar
How do I turn individual beats off?
Tap a dot in the row under the tempo readout on the main screen. Each tap cycles that beat through accent, normal, soft and silent. Reset beats, next to the row, puts the bar back to normal.
My beat pattern disappeared when I changed time signature
Changing the meter resizes the bar, and any beats that did not exist before are added as normal beats. That is intended. If a pattern you set is being lost some other way, please report it.
Purchases
What can I buy?
Every feature of the app is free. The only purchase is an optional tip in Settings, which unlocks a platinum app icon and nothing else. It exists because people asked for a way to pay for an app that has no ads and no subscription.
I tipped but the icon did not appear
Open Settings and tap Restore purchases, then check that the device is signed in to the Apple Account you paid with. The icon picker appears in Settings once the tip is recognised. It is an iPhone and iPad feature — no other Apple platform supports alternate app icons.
